About
My name is Steve Hamrin and this is my latest blog; it’s meant to cover such things as repairing computers, running a small business, working with customers and the like. Since I haven’t actually written it yet, we’ll just have to wait and see what it turns out to be about.
The raison d’ĂȘtre for this blog is that I am running a small computer repair business here in Lexington Ky. I’ve been an IT consultant and marketing consultant for most of the last, um, 25 years or so. I’ve worked with a lot of venture capital start-up companies but Hartland Computer Services is my first “be your own boss” outfit.
Like most small businesses, I stand in the shadow of Big Business, in my case it’s Geek Squad. These guys have great name recognition here in Lexington, great little German cars, a good product and a fantastic business model. Competing with much larger, better known businesses, whether it’s Geek Squad or IBM or Microsoft means that you have to be smart, fast and better in touch with what customers want – all good goals in their own right. I’m hoping this blog will help me with that.

Hi, found your new blog through this link – http://indiancallcenter.wordpress.com/
just curious to know if you have stopped writing on the BPO sector altogether and what do you propose to do with the content of your old blog.
Hi Amit, Thanks for your query. I think generally it is best to write about the things you are working on and experiencing every day. My entries in my Indian Call Centre blog reflected my experiences while I was working in Gurgaon for a BPO there. Now that I’ve moved on to other things I’ve started relating my ideas more to my small business here in the US. I think the material at indiancallcenter.wordpress.com is still relevant to the BPO industry so my plan was to leave it there for posterity and for the benefit of anyone who might come across it. Do you have another suggestion?

Hi there,
I was searching the web the other day for computer repair information and came across your web page.
I recently began a small computer repair blog which will focus on providing free advice and tips on a variety of computer related issues (everything from the best antivirus programs on the web to how to deal with hard drive or RAM problems) geared primarily towards my home city of Vancouver, BC (in Canada
).. Anyways, I was wondering if I would be able to post a guest article on your blog (perhaps a few hundred words on a topic of your choice, or our choice, pertaining to some aspect of computer repair). This way I can slowly get the word out about my site.
As I am just starting out, I would appreciate any opportunities you are willing and/or able to give.
Thanks,
Keith
